Unterhalb der Darstellung mit "The catchpole need not fear a jail. the Undertaker is his Bail." bezeichnet und mit dem Vermerk "London, Pub. Sep. 1-1814, at R. Ackermann's, 101 Strand" versehen. – Eine spitzfedrige Karikatur mit zartem Kolorit aus der Reihe "The English Dance of Death".

Im Randbereich leicht gebräunt und stockfleckig. Insgesamt in einem guten Erhaltungszustand.

Künstler

Rowlandson, Thomas - (1756 Old Jewry / London - 1827 London). Englischer Kupferstecher, Radierer, Zeichner und Karikaturist. Studierte 1772-77 an der Royal Academy in London. Studierte in dieser Zeit auch in Paris bei Jean-Baptiste Pigalle. Freundschaft mit James Gillray und Henry William Bunbury. Arbeitete für den Verleger Rudolph Ackermann, mit dem er einige bedeutende humoristische Serien herausbrachte.
