Historische Künstlergraphik. Kolorierte Aquatintaradierung, 1814. 12,2 x 21,2 cm (Darstellung) / 14,4 x 23,8 cm (Blatt).

Unterhalb der Darstellung mit "Fungus, at length, contrives to get Death's Dart into his Cabinet" bezeichnet und mit dem Vermerk "London, Pub. 1. April 1814, at R. Ackermann's, 101 Strand" versehen. – Detailreiche, humoristische Totentanz-Darstellung eines Antiquars in seinem Heim.

Im Randbereich leicht gebräunt und stockfleckig. Insgesamt in einem guten Erhaltungszustand.

Künstlerin / Künstler

Rowlandson, Thomas - (1756 Old Jewry / London - 1827 London). Englischer Kupferstecher, Radierer, Zeichner und Karikaturist. Studierte 1772-77 an der Royal Academy in London. Studierte in dieser Zeit auch in Paris bei Jean-Baptiste Pigalle. Freundschaft mit James Gillray und Henry William Bunbury. Arbeitete für den Verleger Rudolph Ackermann, mit dem er einige bedeutende humoristische Serien herausbrachte.
